Harriett Dean is the Truancy Program Coordinator for Eaton County, as an employee of the Eaton Regional Education Services Agency (ERESA). She has been with ERESA since 1994, working in direct case management through the Michigan Works Job training partnership, substance abuse prevention, and, most recently in truancy.  A native of Flint, Michigan, Harriett is a graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Ecology, and a Master of Science in Human Resources/Public Administration from Central Michigan University.  She is active in Michigan State University Athletics, serving as Past President of the Downtown Coaches Club, the Duffy Daugherty Memorial Award Committee Board of Directors, current President of the Michigan State Gymnastics Booster Club, and the MSU Men’s Basketball Banquet Committee.  In 2011, The Big Ten Tour listed her tailgate as  “the best in the Big Ten” Harriett has driven in multiple homecoming parades with her 1970 VW beetle and carried the Gymnastics team in the parades with the “tailgate bus”.  She also drove Gus Gunakas in the 2000 National Championship Parade and served as the “Y2K” Bug in the millennium Spartan Marching Band Halftime show. She is a donor to the Spartan Fund for over 25 years. She lives with her husband Lee Kennedy in Lansing, and they have rescue dogs and cats.
