MSU Varsity 'S'- Director Emeritus
A lifelong resident of East Lansing, Dave graduated from East Lansing High School in 1952. Recruited to play tennis for Michigan State University, he lettered for three years, playing in the number one position and was elected captain in 1956. He graduated with Honors from the College of Business with a major in Insurance.
Upon graduation, he entered the life insurance business with Ohio National Life where he remains active today. In August of 2006, Ohio National honored Dave on the occasion of his 50th anniversary with the company by renaming the top salesman award the David H. Brogan Award.
Dave is a life and qualifying member (45 consecutive years) of the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table and has achieved many other industry and company awards.
Over the past years and currently, he is active in community leadership serving on Boards as Chairman of St. Lawrence Hospital, Capital Region Community Foundation, President of the East Lansing Board of Education, President of the Todd Martin Development Fund, a non-profit fund that has supported tennis and leadership training for Greater Lansing at risk youth, and has served over 50 years as advisor to Psi Upsilon Fraternity.
Dave has been an avid Spartan all of his life. He has served on the Board of the MSU Alumni Association, the Ingham County Alumni Association and served as the alumni representative on the Athletic Council. He is a member of the Beaumont Society and a contributor at the Scholarship Level to the Spartan Fund. He currently is in his 7th year as Treasurer of the MSU Varsity “S” Alumni Club.
Dave and his wife, Patricia, have four children and twenty-one grandchildren. His father, Harold was associated with Ohio National Life for many years. Dave’s three sons, Greg, Eric and Andrew all represent Ohio National as well and all four Brogans are representatives of the Brogan, Reed, VanGorder & Associates office in East Lansing.
